Ordinances are written laws adopted by the Municipal Governing Authority that serve as permanent, enforceable laws (unless amended or repealed through the adoption of a new ordinance). An Ordinance establishes the rules for the operation of the local government or provides rules and regulations governing public activity in the community. Ordinances are required to be published in a local newspaper both at the Introduction of the Ordinance and after the Public Hearing where individuals are provided with the opportunity to address the Governing Body with their comments on the Ordinance.
