Update on Water Treatment Improvements

To date, the following has been accomplished,

1) Completion of Site Mapping – this portion of the project has been completed and identifies the location of underground piping necessary for the installation of the GAC filters.

2) Securing GAC Filters – sent out requests for information and received quotes from four companies for the purchase of the GAC filters

3) Water Monitoring – the Water Department continues to monitor the levels of PFNA’s and as of July 12th, our quarterly average remains under the State mandated limit of 13 parts per trillion

4) Funding – (a) Borough Officials are diligently seeking grants with multiple government agencies to fund the Water Plant upgrades for the GAC filtration system. (b) At the June 24th council meeting, the Governing Body voted to approve Bond Ordinance No. 9-2024 which permits the Borough to borrow money that will be applied to Phase I of the Improvements to the Water Filtration System.
