The Office of Vital Statistics

The Office of Vital Statistics contains some vital records (births, deaths and marriages) that have occurred within the Borough of Westville dating back to 1915.

Requesting Certified Copies
In the State of New Jersey, Vital Records are retained in the Municipality where the event occurred.  In order to obtain the record, an application must be completed and photo identification is required.  The fee is $10 per copy and the Borough can accept a check or money order, payable to the Borough of Westville or cash.  Form to request a Certified Copy of a Vital Record

Applying for a Marriage License 

If you are applying for a marriage license, you need to do the following:

1. apply in the Municipality where either party resides,

2. bring the following  when applying for a marriage license:

  • photo ID (e.g. drivers license, passport or state ID)
  • proof of residency (e.g. drivers license or tax bill)
  • A witness (18 years or older) who knows both the applicants
  • A $28.00 fee (cash, check or money order only)

The following information is also needed to complete the application process:

  1. Social Security Numbers of individuals applying for license
  2. Names of both sets of parents and the state or country of their birth
  3. Maiden name of both mothers
  4. Name and address of person performing the ceremony and the township where the marriage/civil union is taking place.
  5. If there was a previous marriage/civil union, date and name of court where divorced was filed

To schedule an appointment to apply for a marriage license, call 856-456-0030 extension. 114. There is a 72-hour waiting period between the filing of the application and the issuance of the license. (The 72-hour waiting period begins at the time the application is filed with the Local Registrar.)
