Route 130 over West Bridge Project Update

Message from Mayor Sims regarding the State of New Jersey, Department of Transportation’s Route 130 Bridge and West Circle Project

The Route 130 Bridge project is expected to start in May, although preparations are now underway. The project will consist of installing a new drainage system, flood walls, flood basins, updates to flood gates and updating the bridge to new federal standards and codes for vehicle traffic as well as minimizing the flooding problem at the circle.

As soon as the State receives the Right of Entry from Conrail, the project will move forward quickly. Once work starts on the bridge, only one lane in each direction will be open to vehicle traffic. Borough officials requested traffic controls at the intersection of Little River Drive and the State’s Project Managers will consider placing either a mechanical or a traffic control person at that location to manage the flow of traffic. This project is scheduled for completion in March 2028.

The State also informed Borough Officials that the Delsea Drive Bridge project may overlap the Route 130 Bridge project which unfortunately means that both bridges could be under construction at the same time. I will provide additional details on the Delsea Drive Bridge project as soon as I receive them.

Needless to say, Westville and the Borough of Brooklawn will experience many traffic issues and challenges for several years while these two projects transpire. We ask for your patience and to consider using other routes of travel as the bridge projects are in progress.

Be assured Borough Officials, as well as our Police and Fire Departments are working diligently to mitigate possible issues that may arise from these projects.
