River Drive Walking Path, Phase 1

Residents,

On behalf of the Governing Body, I’m pleased to share the Borough of Westville will soon begin construction on the River Drive Walking Path – Phase 1 project. This exciting new addition to our community has been in the planning stages for the past three years and is finally becoming a reality.  Additionally, the Borough secured $134,000 in grant funding for this project through the New Jersey Local Recreational Grants Program—a major investment that is helping turn this project into a reality.

Weather permitting, Landberg Construction is scheduled to begin the project on Tuesday, April 21. Phase 1 includes the creation of a new asphalt walking path as well as a wood gazebo. The project area will extend along River Drive and Big Timber Creek, from Michael Galbraith Park to Delaware View Avenue.

During construction, certain portions of the park and surrounding areas will be temporarily closed to accommodate equipment and material staging. For your safety, we kindly ask residents to avoid all restricted areas and follow posted signage throughout the duration of the project.

This venture has been carefully designed as a three-phase initiative. Phase 1 will consist of the construction of the walking path and wood gazebo, while Phase 2 will introduce additional enhancements such as lighting and benches. Phase 3 will conclude the project with the construction of a new playground, further expanding recreational opportunities for our community.

We appreciate your patience and cooperation as we work to improve and enhance our public spaces. These upgrades will provide lasting benefits for residents of all ages and help make Westville an even more enjoyable place to live.
