Snow Removal - Residents and Business Owners,
Please be advised that pursuant to Municipal Code § 336-3 and 336-5, property owners are responsible for clearing snow and ice from sidewalks adjacent to their homes and properties within ten (10) hours following the end of a snow event.
Snow and ice accumulation on sidewalks creates a serious safety risk for pedestrians, including children, seniors, emergency responders, postal workers, and other service providers who require clear access year-round. As numerous sidewalks throughout the Borough remain snow-covered, the Code Enforcement Department will commence enforcement of the sidewalk snow and ice removal ordinance on February 3, 2026. Although temporary discretion was exercised due to the severity of the recent snowfall, adequate time has passed and compliance remains incomplete. Unfortunately, failure to clear sidewalks of snow and ice may result in the Borough arranging for removal. The cost of such services will be billed to the property owner and any unpaid charges may result in a lien being placed on the property for collection.
Your cooperation is essential to maintaining a safe and accessible community. The Borough appreciates the efforts of those residents and business owners who have already complied despite challenging conditions.
Thank you for your prompt attention to this important safety matter.
