Water Update

Hello Residents, throughout the year I’ve been providing updates on how Borough officials are diligently working to obtain grants to make upgrades to the Water Plant and I’m extremely pleased to let you know our efforts paid off! Earlier this month, the Borough submitted a comprehensive grant application request to the United States Department of Agriculture for the Water Assistance Grant program and I’m happy to let you know our grant request was approved and we will be awarded $1,000,000. The $1,000,000 will be allocated to building an addition to the Water plant to accommodate the GAC filtration system that will remove PFNA’s from the water to an undetectable level . Submission of this Grant was a major undertaking and very time consuming so I would like to thank Ryan Giles, Borough Administrator, Jon Bryson, Borough Engineer and Marty Finger our Public Works Superintendent for their efforts and patience in completing and submitting the required paperwork to the USDA. I would also like to thank our Elected Officials for helping us navigate the grant path so that we could start the submission process: State Senator John Burzichelli, Assemblywoman Heather Simmons, Assemblyman David Bailey, Congressman Donald Norcross and U.S. Senator Cory Booker. Finally, I want to thank our Council Members: Donna Domico, Matthew Gayle, Travis Lawrence, Chuck Murtaugh, Bruce Nordaby and Tim Young for their support and for unanimously approving Resolution No. 116-2024 that authorizes me to sign the Grant Agreement with the USDA.

Be assured we are diligently researching grant opportunities to fund this project and will keep you informed as grant monies are awarded. We are slightly ahead of our timeline of having the project completed within 1 ½ to 2 years and will continue to keep water users informed of our progress.
